Land Clearing for Residential and Commercial Properties Across Middle Tennessee

JD Lee Excavating clears timber, brush, stumps, and undergrowth across Humphreys, Dickson, Hickman, Perry, Montgomery, Maury, and Davidson counties.

Large-acreage clearing for new home builds on raw land, commercial site development, subdivision prep, pasture reclamation, and access road corridors, done with dozers and excavators sized to move through heavy timber and rocky ground without making three trips where one should do.

Land Clearing Built for Middle Tennessee Terrain

The ridgelines and hollows across Humphreys, Dickson, and Hickman counties break smaller equipment and bury operators in delays.

  • Hardwood root systems anchored in limestone that won’t come out with a skid steer
  • Rocky, root-laced soil that stalls undersized machines halfway through the property
  • Steep, uneven terrain that requires dozers and excavators, not light equipment on flat ground

Types of Land Clearing Work We Handle

Full Tree and Timber Removal

Dropping, pushing, and removing standing timber from the build area, including hardwoods, softwoods, dead standing trees, and windfall.

Large-Acreage Clearing

Clearing 10, 50, or 100+ acres for subdivision development, agricultural conversion, recreational land, or estate builds with multiple machines running simultaneously.

Stump Removal and Grubbing

Pulling stumps and root systems out of the ground so the cleared area is clean and ready for grading and compaction.

Right-of-Way and Access Corridor Clearing

Cutting corridors for driveways, access roads, utility runs, and fence lines through wooded or overgrown property.

Selective Clearing

Removing targeted trees and undergrowth while preserving specific trees, sight lines, or natural features the property owner wants to keep.

Why Proper Land Clearing Matters for Your Property

Every phase of construction that follows (grading, building pad, driveway, septic) sits on ground that was cleared first. Clearing done right means the ground is clean, stable, and ready to hold grade when the dozers move in for site prep.

  • Stumps left behind create settling under fill. The wood rots, the ground shifts, and anything built on top of it moves with it.
  • Root systems left in the ground open voids beneath compacted material. The roots decay, the soil collapses into the gap, and your graded surface loses its hold.

Brush pushed into piles and buried becomes a drainage problem in two years. Buried organic material decomposes, creates soft spots, and redirects water where you don’t want it.
